Drugstore makeup has come a long way in the last five to ten years. When I was in middle school, drugstore makeup was a bit of a hot mess. But today, it has glowed up, and there are drugstore products in my routine that I prefer tenfold over $50 versions from Sephora. Without further ado, here are some amazing, underrated drugstore gems we’ve been sleeping on!
Revlon Colorstay Foundation
This product is an absolute god-send. I’ve been using it since I was 13, and at 22, it is still a staple foundation in my collection. There is a massive shade range, versions for oily and dry skin types, and the coverage and wear-time is unbeatable. I am from Phoenix, Arizona, y’all. We have summer weather in the realm of 120˚F or hotter. This foundation is the most melt-proof, transfer-proof product I have ever come across. I will forever be obsessed and humbly request that I be buried with a bottle or two when I die.
L’Oreal Paris Lash Paradise Mascara (and Primer)
This mascara has a beautiful formula and is a perfect dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex macara. In fact, it’s better (yes, I have used a full-sized tube of Too Faced as well). I’ve been through this mascara about six or seven times. It is one of my all-time favorite products to come out of the drugstore. The wand is significantly better than that of the Too Faced mascara, and the formula is basically identical. You will get bold, beautiful lashes with little effort and little spidering effect, which is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face! Additionally, the lash primer from this same line is incredible and I cannot live without it anymore.
Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows
I have been using these for years, and the Maybelline Color Tattoos are unbeatable in terms of wear-time. There is a large shade range that is suitable for all skin tones, and they will last through absolutely anything. I’m not kidding here: I went wave diving in the Pacific and spent the rest of the day in the pool, and when I got back to my room, the Color Tattoo was still flawless and in place. My personal favorite shades are “Creamy Beige” and “Bad to the Bronze” but there is a color for everyone. These cream shadows never crease and stay vibrant all day. I also like to use them underneath other shadows as a base to keep them in place for the whole day.
Which products are you loving from the drugstore? Let us know!
