Soothing Scents

Candles have been one of my go-to products this last season. With the ongoing pandemic, being stuck at home, and increasing academic or work-related stress, it is easy for us to start feeling overwhelmed and all alone. Lighting up some of my favorite scents gives me a chance to take a moment to step back and relax. The fragrance, ambiance, and lighting all perfectly combine to induce a sense of calm and wellbeing.

Below are some of my favorites for the upcoming colder months! All of them range from $10-30. However, neither their fragrances nor their packaging loses to higher-end alternatives. Candles are a definite must-have to treat yourself or to gift to friends and family.

Coconut & Amber | Paddywax

Paddywax’s Coconut & Amber candle is my top pick for an at-home spa and pamper nights. The candle creates a creamy and sweet fragrance provided by the coconut milk, which is perfectly balanced by the bitter lime’s freshness. The packaging is also beautiful. The metallic container, wooden knob, and small hangtag give the whole product a rustic and industrial aesthetic, perfect for the coming fall and winter season!

Portland Coffeehouse | Tim Wick’s Candle Co.

As a college student, coffee shops are a second home. Whether it’s to study, meet up with friends, or even the ideal first date spot, coffee shops are the go-to. I spend most of my time either at my favorite cafĂ© or exploring newly opened ones around my neighborhood. I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of the bustling city unraveling before me. This must be why Tim Wick’s Portland Coffeehouse is another one of my favorites! After lighting this candle, you will immediately smell that rich, almost addicting aroma of dark roasted coffee beans. This bold yet familiar smell will transport you to your favorite coffee shop, a place I especially miss during these quarantined months.

Woodsmoke | Brooklyn Candle Studio

Brooklyn Candle Studio’s Woodsmoke reminds me of my family’s winter holidays to mountain cabins during my childhood. It reminds me of coming back from a long day of skiing, lighting the fireplace to warm up from the outside cold, and drinking my favorite hot chocolate topped with mini marshmallows. The cedar leaf notes, labdanum, and leather produce a soothing scent that brings back these sweet memories and makes me forget about my stresses. My favorite part, however, is the woodwick. It makes lighting the candle a pleasing experience. Not only are we gifted with this rich aroma, but also with the faint sound of the burning wood. Together, they instantly create a comfortable and cozy atmosphere and a small escape from any troubles.

And that’s all for today! Let us know what your favorite candle scents are, or even the way you enjoy relaxing and taking a break from school or work.

Lovingly,

Gioia
