As flu season approaches us and the weather gets colder our hands become prone to dryness. Washing our hands helps prevent illness, but the more we do it the dryer our hands get. On the other hand, the cold and dry Autumn weather sucks the moisture out from our skin. The combination of these two factors leaves our hands feeling vulnerable. What’s the solution to dry hands? A good moisturizing hand cream!
Aēsop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm $30
This hand cream is one of Aēsop’s best sellers and personally one of my favorites! Upon applying it, my hands feel immediately soft and hydrated. It contains fragrant botanicals such as Cedar Atlas, Mandarin Rind, and Rosemary Leaf, which gives the balm a citrusy and herbaceous scent. It also contains Beta Carotene and Tocopherol, which carry emollient properties, ensuring that your hands will stay hydrated. Balms usually have a thicker consistency than cream, but Aēsop’s hand balm leaves my hands feeling nourished and supple without a thick or greasy feeling.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream $29
L’Occitane claims that this hand cream has been the best seller for over 20 years, and I can see why! It is infused with 20% organic shea butter, which is a moisturizing agent. It also includes a blend of coconut oil and almond extracts which makes the formulation even more nourishing. The product itself has a very creamy and balm-like texture without feeling too heavy. I like that it quickly penetrates the skin, and it doesn’t leave my hand feeling sticky afterward.
Innisfree Nourishing Hand Butter with Canola Honey $9
Innisfree is known for providing quality products at affordable prices, making it easier to treat yourself without breaking the bank! It is infused with Jeju canola honey which is said to provide powerful hydration. It smells lovely like honey and slightly floral, but it’s not overwhelming. I find that it absorbs fairly easily and doesn’t feel thick for it being a hand butter. There are no longer any Innisfree stores in the U.S. However, the brand has done a great job at expanding its online services. The brand often has sales going on for its products, so make sure to check them out!
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream $5.19
There was a time when my skin was so dry that it even hurt to ball up my hand into a fist. The only product that helped my severe dryness was this hand cream by Neutrogena. It is very effective at delivering quick relief for chapped hands. Immediately after one application, my hands start feeling soft. I also find that it offers long-lasting moisture so there’s no need to keep reapplying throughout the day. Besides being affordable, it is also fragrance-free so if you’re sensitive to smell this is a great pick!
