The Benefits of Using a Humidifer

With winter approaching, the cold air can leave your skin feeling extra dry. I find that after spending too much time in the cold my skin starts turning red, itchy, and irritated. Using a humidifier helps soothe my skin during the winter when it becomes irritated by the cold weather. Besides leaving my skin feeling moisturized it also leaves my skin looking extra glowy!

  • Dry Skin

The lack of humidity can negatively affect our skin barrier. When the air is dry, moisture from our skin evaporates fairly quickly. This is what sometimes causes our skin to peel and become irritated. A humidifier is a good way to bring moisture back into skin that’s feeling dry. I use my humidifier the most when I study at home or when I’m about to go to sleep. When I wake up after using a humidifier overnight, I notice that my complexion looks more smooth and supple.

  • Keeping Hair Moist

Lack of moisture can leave hair feeling dry and looking dull. The lack of hydration can also make hair more prone to breakage. A humidifier can help bring back shine to hair damaged by the weather. It aids in assuring that hair retains its natural moisture levels. Both your hair and scalp can benefit from keeping a humidifier nearby.

  • Soothing a Sore Throat

Cold air can dry out your throat and lead to irritation. Before I owned a humidifier, I would wake up each fall and winter morning with an uncomfortable itchy throat. A humidifier helps increase the level of humidity in a room and reduce the spread of germs. It also helps decongest your airways so that you can rest and breathe easily.

My favorite humidifier at the moment is the Vicks Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier. As a busy student, I like that it requires no filter so it is easier to maintain. It’s also quiet so there’s no need to worry about it disrupting your sleep if you plan on keeping it on throughout the night!
