Fall is in the air, and if you’re anything like me, that means we’re bringing out the palettes. There’s no better time of the year to experiment with our makeup, and this year is no different. Whether wearing masks or not (and you should always be wearing one), you should still feel excited to get those creative juices flowing! Masks may occasionally discourage us from wearing makeup. Nonetheless, we have to remember that makeup is all about how we feel when we wear it, even when no one can see our incredible contour or perfectly lined lips.
That said, makeup with masks is a whole new skill to tackle. So today, I’m here to give you a head start with the three mask hacks you need to know:
- Setting Spray!
We all know that the last step after a full glam is to spray your face with the blessings of setting spray. But what you may not have learned is that setting spray can keep your makeup from rubbing on your mask if you spray the mask itself. That’s right! Apply your makeup, set your face and then, set the inside of your mask too. With a little setting spray on the surface of the mask, you’ll never have to worry about the foundation on your mask again!
- Translucent Powder
Masks can also tend to move around when we speak, creasing the makeup under our eyes and around our nose. To prevent creasing, add translucent powder under your foundation to keep everything in place. I recommend this order for a clean look: moisturizer, primer, lightly dab some translucent powder under your eyes and nose, and finally apply foundation and concealer before continuing with your makeup routine.
- Aquaphor
If you’ve experienced breakouts ever since you began wearing a mask with makeup, worry not. Aquaphor is here to save the day! Before applying makeup, add a light layer of Aquaphor to the area where your mask sits and watch as it creates a barrier between your skin and the moisture of the mask. Bye-bye mascne (mask-acne)!
