It is super important to showcase support for the protection of the environment. By purchasing products from brands that actively involve themselves with this cause, we are also doing our part in promoting environmental education and expanding our commitment to protecting the environment. The beauty industry has always grappled with issues of pollution and the overuse of plastics. Luckily many companies have started taking approaches such as using biodegradable, plastic-free, refillable, and recyclable packaging to minimize the impact on the planet. Clean beauty is important as it works to meet our skin needs while simultaneously protecting our planet. Here are some of my all-time favorite sustainable body care, makeup, and skincare products.
Lush
Lush is a cult-favorite brand known for its zero-waste culture. They do their best to avoid single-use plastics and instead focus on making every aspect of their products eco-friendly by making them as recycled and recyclable as possible. One of my favorite lines of products from the brand is their shower jellies. The Lush Gummy Bear is a shower jelly with a fruity and sweet scent. Besides being eco-friendly, what first caught my attention about this product was how it was shaped like a cute little bear! It’s hydrating to the skin due to the fact it contains coconut milk. I’m not a fan of the smell of coconut, but thankfully it doesn’t smell like it at all. Instead, it smells of a mango and orange mixture. I appreciate the fresh and fruity scent, especially as the hotter summer weather approaches.
RMS Beauty
RMS Beauty is a brand that was introduced to me by my cousin, who is all about sustainable beauty. RMS Beauty’s philosophy is to transform the makeup products women use in terms of making them safer for them and the planet. RMS is known for using food-grade, non-GMO, organic, and wildcrafted ingredients within their natural state. They also make sure that their packaging, besides being minimally beautiful, is also recyclable and reusable. My favorite product by RMS Beauty is their Eyelights Cream Eyeshadow. This product is one of the brand’s bestsellers, and I can see why. At first, I was wary of cream eyeshadows because I had heard they didn’t last long and tend to move on the eyes. However, I have found that this specific product by RMS doesn’t crease and is long-wearing. Because it contains natural peptide quinoa extracts and organic green tea, I have found that it feels extremely nourishing on the eye area, which is a huge plus for me. My favorite shade is Halo, which is a red-brown color with a light-reflective finish. I also love how it includes a reusable key that is used to twist and press all of the product out of the tube so that nothing goes to waste.
REN Clean Skincare
I first stumbled upon REN skincare while browsing the Sephora clean beauty page. Something I appreciate about the brand is its zero to waste pledge. This means that the product containers are made out of recyclable materials and can therefore be recycled after use. Even the box that they use to ship the products is made the same way and if sent back to the company, can be reused up to 20 times. My favorite product from them is the Rosa Centifolia No. 1 Purity Cleansing Balm. This product has a rich texture that leaves your skin feeling refreshed and nourished. I find that it removes makeup residue really well without leaving your skin feeling completely stripped of moisture. The cleanser does have a noticeable rose scent, so at first I was wary of it, but thankfully it did not cause my skin to flare up. Overall, I really enjoy the quality of the product and appreciate the brand’s efforts toward sustainability.
